Everyday objects and tools in Hungarian

Hungarian object names often describe what the thing does: a screwdriver is a csavarhúzó, a ‘screw-puller’, and a stapler is a tűzőgép, a ‘stapling machine’. This A0–A1 English–Hungarian deck gathers objects from the kitchen (kanál, serpenyő, habverő), the toolbox (kalapács, fűrész, létra), the school bag (ceruza, olló, ragasztó) and the home (törölköző, párna, takaró).

Hungarian adds a suffix where English uses a preposition: with a spoon is kanállal, with scissors is ollóval. The first five cards (wool, balloon, cleaner, spoon, wheelchair) are free to try without an account on this page.
