Quantities and measurement: words for shopping and cooking
A cup, a glass, a pack: in English an amount is often given by the container it comes in (a cup, a glass, a pack, a bottle, a bowl). This beginner (A0–A1) English–Hungarian deck teaches these, together with units (kilo, kilometre, centimetre) and everyday words such as half, quarter, pair and plenty. You can start with the first five cards (can, number, lot, half, room) right here, without registering.
Mind the spelling: the deck uses British forms (kilometre, centimetre, kilogramme), which American English writes kilometer, centimeter and kilogram. In Hungarian the metric units are almost the same words — kilométer, centiméter, kilogramm — while the containers (pohár, csésze, tál) are new.
